Black Serpent Sun are a band from the United Kingdom that plays a very atmospheric form of pagan/black metal and this is a review of their self released 2012 ep "As Eden Sinks To Grief".
Drum programming ranges from slow, mid paced to fast beats, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars, as for the sound effects when they are utilized bring sounds of nature to the ep.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast riffs that combine traditional black, pagan and death metal together to create a sound of their own along with a good amount of melody and some soft and clean playing being thrown into the riffing at times and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.
Vocals are mostly deep blackened death metal growls along with some clean singing pagan vocals and chanting, while the lyrics cover darkness and paganism themes, as for the production it has a very strong, powerful and heavy sound with the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Black Serpent Sun are a very great sounding hybrid of black, pagan and death metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Black Light Disciple". RECOMMENDED BUY.
