Yellow Eyes are a band from New York that plays a very atmospheric form of black metal with elements of drone and this is a review of their 2011 album "Silence Threads The Evening's Cloth" which was released in 2011 by Broken Limb Recordings.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with a good amount of blast beats being thrown into the music, while the bass playing has a very strong and powerful sound with heavy riffing that dominates throughout the recording.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast atmospheric black metal riffs that are raw and primitive sounding at times while also mixing in some melody, drone elements and post rock influences to create a sound of their own, while the lead guitars are very atmospheric and melodic sounding post black metal guitar solos and leads, as for the acoustic guitars they use finger picking and full chords to bring more variety to the music.
Vocals are all high pitched black metal screams, while the lyrics cover darkness and everyday themes, as for the production it has a very dark, heavy, raw and primitive sound while you can still hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording with a couple of songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Yellow Eyes are a very great sounding raw and primitive, atmospheric, post black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "My Candle Is Gone But I Do Not Move" "Silence Threads The Evening's Cloth" and "Cathedral". RECOMMENDED BUY.
