Angra Demana are a band originally from Iran but now resides in Austria and plays a very aggressive form of ambient black metal and this is a review of their self released 2019 ep "Triptych of Decay".
A very fast and raw sound starts off the ep along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly aggressive yet grim black metal screams while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them along with the riffs also adding in a decent amount of dark sounding melodies.
Most of the tracks a re very long and epic in length while the solos and leads are done in a very raw, chaotic and old school style as well as having their melodic moments. Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and at times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding and ambient style synths can also be heard briefly and at times the vocals have an almost melodic vibe to them.
Angra Demana plays a style of black metal that is very aggressive while also adding in elements of ambient into some parts of their music to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover darkness, insanity, misanthropic and occult themes.
In my opinion Angra Demana are a very great sounding aggressive ambient black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Extinction". 8 out of 10.
