Grave Violator are a band from Finland that plays a raw mixture of black and thrash metal with some elements of punk and this is a review of their 2019 album "Back To The Cult" which will be released on March 22nd by Reaper Metal Productions.
A very hard and heavy sound starts off the album before going into more of a faster and aggressive d beat direction. When tremolo picking and blast beats are utilized they give the music more of a raw feeling while the vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched black metal screams and the music also mixes in elements of thrash.
A great amount of 80's and 90's influences can also be heard in the music while also sounding very modern at the same time. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic yet old school style and throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
As the album progresses a brief use of death metal growls can also be heard while one track which is also an instrumental also introduces clean playing onto the recording. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them while a later track is very long and epic in length as well as introducing a brief use of spoken word parts onto the recording. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover lust, filth, dreams, life and death themes.
In my opinion Grave Violator are a very great sounding raw mixture of black and thrash metal with some elements of punk and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Baptized in Filthy Semen" "Forced Flesh" "Back To The Cult" and "Feed The Dead". 8 out of 10.
