Primogenorum are a band from Ukraine that plays a very raw and lo-fi form of black metal and this is a review of their 2019 ep "Ye Last Ordeal" which will be released in April as a joint effort between Lunar Apparitions and Nebular Carcoma.
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the ep while the solos and leads are done in a very distorted style. Vocals are mostly grim black metal screams along with the music also adding in a great amount of 90's influences and the riffs also add in a decent amount of dark sounding melodies.
One of the tracks is very long and epic in length while the music also captures a very lo-fi atmosphere. After a couple of slow yet heavy songs the music starts to speed up on the third track and also add in more raw energy as well as some blast beats and tremolo picked riffs and leads and all of the songs remain true to a dark and heavy musical direction, on the closing song the sounds of human torture are also added into the music.
Primogenorum plays a style of black metal that is very raw, lo-fi and old school sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover darkness, inhumanity and blasphemous themes.
In my opinion Primogenorum are a very great sounding raw and lo-fi black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Trial Of Black Fire" and "On The Ground of The Dying Man". 8 out of 10.
