Vargsheim are a band from Germany that plays a very aggressive form of black metal with elements of rock music and this is a review of their 2019 album "Sohne der Sonne" which will be released on March 22nd by MDD Records.
A very hard and heavy sound starts off the album while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams along with some clean playing also being added into certain sections of the recording and the music also adds in a touch of black'n'roll.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can also be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as one track also introducing a brief use of clean vocals into the music.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they bring in more of an old school metal/rock style while a couple of the songs are long and epic in length. As the album progresses a brief use of acoustic guitars can also be heard as well as both the riffs and leads also utilizing a decent amount of melody, one track is also all instrumental. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in German and cover the Overestimation of one'sown capabilities, self-awareness, human arrogance and the ravages of time.
In my opinion Vargsheim are a very great sounding black'n'roll band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Individuum" "Staublunge" "Athenas Kuss" and "Vom Horizont gefallen". 8 out of 10.
