Decoherence are a musical project from the United Kingdom that plays a very haunting form of black metal and this is a review of their self titled 2019 ep which will be released in April by Sentient Ruin Laboratories.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the ep along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly deep yet grim black metal screams while the song is divided into 2 different chapters and the music also brings in a great mixture of both old school and modern influences.
On the second part of the ep the music also starts adding in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while some of the faster riffs also use a great amount of repetitive riffing to create a very dark trance like atmosphere and dark and dissonant sounding melodies can also be heard underneath the chaos and towards the end a brief use of clean guitars can also be heard.
Decoherence plays a style of black emtal that is very dark, raw and haunting sounding. The production sounds very dark, raw and lo-fi while the lyrics cover uncharted and alien words of inhuman origin.
In my opinion Decoherence are a very great sounding dark and haunting black metal musical project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. 8 out of 10
