Aoartos are a band from Monument, Colorado that plays a very haunting and malefic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "Gods Without Name" which was released by Debembur Morti Productions.
Ambient style soundscapes start off the album while the synths also bring in a variety of many different sounding keys. A great amount of atmospheric elements can also be heard in the heavier sections of the music while the songs also have their ritualistic moments and the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams.
Clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording while the riffs also bring in a decent amount of dark sounding melodies. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can also be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
At times the vocals also get very deep and demonic sounding along with the songs also adding in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very dark, melodic and dissonant style and a couple of the tracks are very long and epic in length and as the album progresses an instrumental is also added onto the recording. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Occultism, Darkness and Emotions themes.
In my opinion Aoratos are a very great sounding haunting and malefic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Holy Mother Of terror" "The Watcher On The Threshold" and "Dread Spirit of the Place". 8/5 out of 10.
