Doombringer are a band from Poland that plays a raw mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "Walpurgis Fires" which will be released in April by Nuclear War Now! Productions.
Ritualistic soundscapes start off the album before going into more of a darker and heavier direction. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. The riffs also add in a decent amount of morbid sounding melodies.
Vocals bring in more of an angry and shouting black metal approach while some of the riffing is also very heavily rooted in death metal. Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as the music also adding in a great amount of 90's influences but keeping it modern.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very dark, melodic and chaotic style. Clean guitars can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and as the album progresses a brief use of ritualistic spoken word parts can also be heard as well as elements of doom metal being added into the slower sections of the music and a later track is all instrumental. The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover Occultism, Witchcraft, Doom and Darkness themes.
In my opinion Doombringer is a very great sounding old school mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Into The Woodlands" "Samhain Melancholia" and "Walpurgis". 8 out of 10.
