Ars Manifestia are a solo project from Italy that plays an avant garde form of black metal and this is a review of his 2023 album "Il mattino della follia" which was released by Fog Foundation.
Clean playing starts off the album before going into a heavier direction while the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams. All of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with the riffs also adding in a great amount of melody and at times the music also gets very avant garde sounding.
Clear vocals are also added on some of the tracks while blast beats and tremolo picking can also be heard when the album finally speeds up which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. All of the tracks sound very different from each other and most of the recording focuses more on a slow or mid tempo direction, when guitar solos and leads are finally utilized they are done in a very melodic style and the closing track also adds in touches of stoner doom metal.
On this recording Ars Manifestia moves away from the more raw and traditional black metal style of previous releases and focuses more on a modern and avant garde style. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in a mixture of Italian and English and cover darkness themes.
In my opinion Ars Manifestia are a very great sounding avant garde black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Warmth" and "My Void". 8 out of 10.
