Scáth na Déithe are a solo project from Ireland that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording plays an atmospheric mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of his 2023 album "Virulent Providence" which will be released on February 13th by Vendetta Records.
Raw tremolo picking starts off the album while both of the tracks are also over 20 minutes in length. Death metal growls can also be heard at times along with the vocals being mostly high pitched black metal screams as well as the riffs also adding in a great amount of melody and the music also h as its atmospheric moments.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of blast beats. Throughout the recording you can also h ear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some synths also being utilized at times.
Clean playing can also be heard briefly along with some voices ad spoken word parts also being added into the background on both of the songs as well as the slower riffing also showing an influence of doom metal, on track also adds in a brief use of tribal drumming and acoustic guitars are also added towards the end. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the Great Hunger Of The 1840's.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Scáth na Déithe and if you are a fan of atmospheric black and death metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Virulent Providence Part One". 8 out of 10.
