Unohidus are a solo project from Finland that plays a very atmospheric, depressive and melodic mixture of black, dark and doom metal and this is a review of his self released 2023 demo "Niin turhaan tähdet valaisivat meitä".
A very dark y et heavy sound starts off the demo while the slower sections of the songs also bring in elements of doom metal. Melodies are also added into a lot of the guitar riffing along with the music also having its atmospheric moments and the vocals are mostly high pitched depressive black metal screams.
The songs also add in a great amount of dark metal influences while violins can also be heard briefly. When the music speeds up on the second track before a small amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats can b e heard which also gives the song more of a raw feeling as well as giving t he demo more diversity.
Unohudus plays a musical style that takes a very atmospheric, depressive and melodic form of black metal and mixes it with dark and doom metal to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover emotions sparked by Mankind's foolishness and self-destructiveness.
In my opinion Unohidus are a very great sounding atmospheric, depressive and melodic mixture of b lack, dark and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Pohjatuuli". 8 out of 10.
