Belmez where a 1 man band from Germany that played a mixture of dark and black metal and this is a review of their 1995 album "Berzerker" which was released by Napalm Records.
Drum programming ranges from slow to mid paced beats that have an industrial edge to them with no programmed fast parts or blast beats, while the bass playing has a very dark tone that is mixed down low in the mix and seems to follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow to mid paced dark/black metal riffs that are heavily influenced by doom metal with somewhat of an industrial ffeling at times with a good amount of melody in the riffing as well as some soft and clean playing in addition there is a mixture of short and long songs, while the lead guitars are very distorted and melodic sounding guitar leads.
Vocals are mostly high pitched depressive black metal screams that are very grim sounding with a brief use of demonic growls, while the lyrics are written in German and cover dark, paranormal and metaphysical themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion Belmez where a very great sounding black/dark metal hybrid and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Und Leise Zieselt Der Wind" "Berserker" "Wurmland" and "Lippen Auf Verwestem Fleisch". RECOMMENDED BUY.
