Laster are a band from The Netherlands that plays a very atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2012 album "Wijsgeer & Narreman" which was released by Dunkelheit Produktionen.
Drums range from slow to mid paced drumming with some fast playing and blast beats being used at times, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast atmospheric black metal riffs that are very dark, raw and primitive sounding with some melody being thrown into the riffing and there are little to no guitar solos or leads present on this recording, as for the acoustic guitars which are only used on the last song they use full chords and finger picking to add more variety to the music.
Vocals are mostly pitched black metal screams that have a depressive feeling to them at times as well as a brief use of spoken word parts, while the lyrics are written in Dutch and cover J. W von Goethe's Faust, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion Laster are a very great sounding modern day raw and primitive black metal band and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Tot eenheid verweven". RECOMMENDED BUY.
