Nightside where a band from Finland that played a very raw and primitive form of melodic satanic black metal and this is a review of their 2001 album "The End of Christianity" which was released by Sound Riot.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with a good amount of blast beats being thrown into the music, while the synths when they are utilized bring a very dark and atmospheric sound to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars and at times they have a very powerful sound to them.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very dark, raw and primitive sounding with a good amount of melody being thrown into the riffing as well as some influences from death, thrash and traditional metal while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding guitar solos and leads.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding and high pitched hateful black metal screams that have an 80's black thrash feeling to them at times along with some deep growls being thrown in at times as well as a brief use of spoken word parts, while the lyrics cover Satanism, Goetia, Anti Christian, War and Metal themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion Nightside where a very great sounding raw and primitive, melodic satanic black metal band and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Call To War" "The Black Legion Of Satan" "Demon Metal" and "The Almighty Andras". RECOMMENDED BUY.
