Pest where a band from Finland that played a very raw and primitive form of satanic black metal with a thrash and rock music edge and this is a review of their 2003 compilation album "Hail The Black Metal Wolves Of Belial" which was released as a joint effort between Blood Fire Death and Vinland Winds.
Drums range from slow to mid paced drumming with not much in the way of fast playing or blast beats, while the keyboards bring a very dark and atmospheric sound to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars and at times they have a very powerful sound to them with some classic underground metal style riffing.
Rhythm guitars range from slow to mid paced black metal riffs that are very raw and primitive sounding with a great amount of thrash, traditional metal and rock music influences being thrown into the riffing as well as some dark sounding melodies while the lead guitars when they are utilized are traditional metal/rock guitar solos and leads.
Vocals range from grim sounding and high pitched black metal screams and some deep growls, male and female spoken word ritualistic parts, while the lyrics cover Satanism, Demonology, Rituals, Anti Christian and Black Metal themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it while you can still hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording
In my opinion Pest where a very great sounding raw and primitive atmospheric satanic/black metal band with a thrash and rock music edge and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Satanic Winter" "The Opening Of The Eye Of Satan" "Sabbath Of Lust" and "Satanic Black Mass". RECOMMENDED BUY.
