Vinland Ghost are a band from Washington State that plays a very raw and primitive form of atmospheric pagan/viking.black metal and this is a review of their self released 2008 demo "Empire Without End".
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with a great amount of brutal sounding blast beats being thrown into the music, as for the synths when they are utilized they bring a very atmospheric/pagan sound to the music.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast pagan/black metal riffs that are very dark, raw and primitive sounding with a brief use of melody being thrown into the riffing and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording except for the last song and they have a very melodic tone to them, as for the acoustic guitars which are only used on the last song they use full chords and finger picking to give the music a very dark and medieval sound.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding and high pitched black metal screams with some deep growls, depressive screams and a brief use of pagan/viking chanting along with some clean singing, while the lyrics cover dark, pagan and viking themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion Vinland Ghost are a very great sounding atmospheric raw and primitive pagan/viking/black metal band and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Empire Without End" and "Fury Of The Northmen". RECOMMENDED BUY.
