Mork Gryning where a band from Sweden that played a very atmospheric form of Swedish style black metal and this is a review of their 1998 album "Return Fire" which was released by No Fashion Records.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with a good amount of brutal sounding blast beats being thrown into the music, while the keyboards bring a very dark and atmospheric sound to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very strong and powerful sound with riffs that dominate throughout the recording.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast Swedish style black metal riffs that have somewhat of a raw but not too primitive sound along with some melodies and thrash influences being thrown into the riffing, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding guitar solos and leads that utilize a great amount of skill and talent, as for the acoustic guitars when they are utilized they use finger picking to enhance the darkness of the music.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams with some deep death metal growls and thrash style yells being thrown into the music at times as well as some spoken word parts along with a brief use of clean singing, while the lyrics cover Satanism, H.P Levecraft stories, Anti Christian and War themes, as for the production it has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion Mork Gryning where a very great sounding Swedish atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "World Of The Dragon" "Dreams, Sweet Dreams" "Return Fire" and "Necrophiliac" which is a Slayer cover. RECOMMENDED BUY.
