Druzhina are an international band with members from both Denmark and Switzerland and plays a raw and atmospheric mixture of black and folk metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Third Henosis" which was released as a joint effort between Gateway Music and Asgaard Hass.
A very fast, raw and atmospheric black metal sound starts off the album along with some synths in the background and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and when vocals are added into the music they are very hateful and grim sounding screams and some of the riffs also bring in a decent amount of melody.
A great portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length and the synths also bring in the atmosphere of a fantasy movie at times and the band also adds in tribal beats at times while the solos and leads the band uses are in a very melodic direction and the back up shouts also adds more of a pagan feeling to the songs.
Later tracks start bringing in more of a viking/folk metal sound but done with guitars instead of folk instruments and they also bringing in a brief instrumental before returning back to vocals on the following tracks which also shows death metal growls being added onto the recording and the last track also brings in a small amount of whispered vocals..
Druzhina plays mostly a raw, epic and atmospheric style of pagan/black metal that also brings in elements of death and folk metal at times to create a sound of their own , the production sounds very powerful while the lyrics cover nature, war, glory and sadness.
In my opinion Druzhina are a very great sounding atmospheric and epic pagan/black metal band with some elements of folk and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Breath Of Kronborg" "Eclipse Of Mankind" and "Psalm Of The Void". 8 out of 10.
