Sar Nath are a solo project from Texas that plays a very raw and atmospheric style of black metal and this is a review of his 2015 album "Freshly Skinned And Left For Dead" which was released by Merdumgiriz Records.
Dark, melodic and atmospheric sounds start off the album and once the grim black metal screams kick in the music goes into more of a fast and raw direction along with a great amount of blast beats and melodic guitar leads and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Deep growls can be heard in certain sections of the recording and some of t he songs also bring in a small amount of spoken word parts and the faster sections bring in a great amount of early 90's second wave elements while the music is more noisier than that style and some of the songs also bring in depressive melodies.
When synths are utilized they give the music more of a dark and evil atmosphere while the music can also get experimental at times adding in a touch of noise and power electronics at times and all of the songs bring in a great amount of diversity and there is also one track that is very long and epic in length as well as introducing clean vocals onto the recording and some of the slower riffing also brings in a touch of doom metal at times.
Sar Nath creates a style of black metal that is very dark and raw in a second wave tradition but also can be very depressive, original and experimental at times, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Ghosts, Demons, Mental Illness and Private Hells.
In my opinion Sar Nath are a very great sounding raw and experimental black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Incision Has Not Yet Appeared" "Rainshards" "The Bloodies Ghost Of the Sepulchure" and "Succumbing To Possessions Fire". 8 out of 10.
