Forgotten Horror are a band from Finland that plays a musical style they describe as being Lilithian black metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Aeon Of the Shadow Goddess" which will be released in June by Woodcut Records.
Dark, evil and atmospheric sounding synths start off the album and start mixing in with a more melodic and heavy musical direction a few seconds later and once the music speeds up blast beats and high pitched black metal screams are added onto the recording and the vocals also bring in death metal growls at times.
Throughout the recording there is a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the music also bring s in exotic sounding scales at times while the solos and leads are also very melodic and utilize a great amount of talent and skill and some of the riffs also bring in a great amount of thrash metal elements.
Clean playing can be heard in certain sections of the recording along with some melodic female choirs being utilized at times and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and the musical style is very heavily rooted in the mid 90's but done with a more modern approach and production and some of the tracks also bring in a small amount of spoken word parts and whispers.
Forgotten Horror plays a style of black metal that is very occult, melodic and atmospheric in a mid 90's style direction and also mixes in a great amount of thrash and death metal influences, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism and Left Hand Path themes.
In my opinion Forgotten Horror are a very great sounding melodic and atmospheric occult black metal band with a touch of thrash and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Behold A Shadow Goddess" "In Ravenous Darkness" and "The Ghost Of Time". 8 out of 10.
