Bane Of Radiance are a 1 man band from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada that plays a very atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his 2015 album "Celestial Extinction" which was released by Satanica Productions.
A very atmospheric sounding synth and spoken word samples start off the album and after the intro the music goes into more of a heavier and faster direction which also shows blast beats being introduced into the songs and the music also keeps its atmospheric elements and also adds in a great amount of melody.
A good portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length and the vocals that are utilized are very high pitched and depressive sounding black metal screams and the songs also use a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and some of the faster riffing displays more of a raw style of black metal.
At times the music can be very progressive and instrumental and the songs also bring in a great amount of ambient and noise elements in certain sections of the recording while the slower sections are very heavily influenced by doom metal and when solos and leads a re utilized they are very dark and melodic and all of the tracks also bring in a great amount of diversity.
Bane Of Radiance plays a style of black metal that is very original perfectly capturing the more raw, melodic, atmospheric and depressive style of the genre and mixing it with elements of progressive, experimental, ambient, noise and doom metal to take the genre to new levels, the production sounds very dark, raw and powerful all at the same time while the lyrics cover dark and philosophical themes.
In my opinion Bane Of Radiance are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dawn Of The Dying Sun" "Beyond All Hope" and "Degenerative Eternity". 8 out of 10.
