The Ugly are a band from Sweden that plays a very fast and aggressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Decreation" which will be released in June by ViciSolum Records.
A very heavy and aggressive black meal sound starts off the album along with some high pitched screams a few seconds alter that also leads up to more of a fast and raw musical direction which also brings blast beats onto the recording and when the music slows down the songs bring in a great amount of melody.
Throughout the recording there is a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the solos and leads that are utilized stick mostly to a melodic musical direction and some of the riffs bring in a thrash influence while the musical style still owes more to the Norwegian and Swedish style of black metal.
Some of the riffs almost get technical at times and the music sounds very modern while still being very true to black metal and on some of the later tracks there is a brief use of spoken word samples and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and on some of the later songs the vocals also get a bit more deeper at times and it also brings a touch of death metal onto the recording.
The Ugly plays a style of black metal that is very fast, raw, heavy and aggressive while also utilizing a decent amount of melody and you can hear the Nordic style throughout the recording, the production sounds very powerful while the lyrics cover the destruction of the universe, cosmicism, Luciferian, Necronomicon and Sumerian themes.
In my opinion The Ugly are a very great sounding fast and aggressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "I Am Death" "Crawl" "Slumber Of The God" and "Nibiru". 8 out of 10.
