Bergrizen are a solo project from Ukraine that plays an epic and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his 2017 album "Der Unsterbliche Geist" which was released by Purity Through Fire.
Tragic sounding keyboards start off the album along with a variety of many different keys as well as mixing in with the heavier sections of the music and when the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams that also have a depressive touch at times.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while the solos and leads are done in a very melodic fashion along with the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, acoustic guitars can also be heard in certain sections of the recording..
A decent amount of melody can also be heard in the guitar riffing while the music is also very heavily rooted in the Eastern European tradition f the genre as well as having its atmospheric moments along with most of the tracks being very long and epic in length and some songs also bring in a small amount of nature sounds and the album closes with an ambient instrumental track.
Bergrizen plays a style of black metal that is very raw, melodic, epic and atmospheric sounding the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Ukrainian and cover poetic, darkness and mysticism themes.
In my opinion Bergrizen are a very great sounding raw, epic and atmospheric black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Der Unsterbliche Geist" and "Entsagen". 8 out of 10.
