Seid are a band from Sweden that plays a pagan form of black metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Darkness Shall Fall" which will be released in December by Urtod Void.
Tribal style beats along with some heavy riffs start off the album while melodic leads are also used quite a bit throughout the recording as well as all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them and the vocals are mostly grim black metal screams and the music is heavily rooted in the 90's.
A great amount of melody can also be heard in the guitar riffing while the tracks also brings in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a small amount of clean pagan vocals and during the faster sections of the songs a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
Some of the tracks are very long and epic in length and as the album progresses the music gets more atmospheric while classical guitars, sounds of wolves and spoken word parts can also be heard briefly on an intro before returning back to a heavier direction as well as some of the riffing also bringing in more of a traditional metal feeling and synths can also be heard on one of the songs.
Seid plays a style of pagan black metal that is very raw, epic, melodic and old school sounding, the production sounds very powerful and heavy while the lyrics cover Vikings, Asatru, Rune Magick, Seidr Rituals, Witchcraft, Prophecies and War themes.
In my opinion Seid are a very great sounding pagan black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Ancient One" "I Will Carve My Runes Upon You" and "The Awakening Of The Spawn Of Loki". 8/5 out of 10.
