This is another review of a recording from Sweden's Blodulv which also shows the album going for more of a raw style of black metal and the album was originally released in 20004 and called "II" and will be re-issued on July 13th, 2023 by Ophidian Sun.
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the album while all of the drum beats are also programmed. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams which also adds in some depressive and suicidal touches along with the riffs also adding in a small amount of melody at times and blast beats are also added into the faster sections of the songs.
When tremolo picking is added into the fast riffing they also give the music more of a raw feeling while the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. A lot of the music is also very heavily influenced by the second wave era along with some of the tracks also being very long and epic in length as well as the guitar leads also being done in a very melodic style when they are utilized and the whole recording also sticks to a heavier direction.
On this recording Blodulv remains true to the raw style of black metal that they had established on the previous release. The production sounds very dark and r aw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Darkness and Extremism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Blodulv and if you are a fan of taw and old school black metal, you should check out this re-issue. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Desolate" "Karmafrost" and "With The Fist Of Satan". 8 ut of 10.
