Spain's solo project Burguli has returned with a new recording which shows the music going for more of a raw style of black metal and this is a review of his 2023 ep "Odi des de la fi del mon" which will be released on July 17th by WornHoleDeath Records.
Melodic guitar solos and leads start off the ep while most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with the music also capturing a very lo-fi atmosphere as well as the tremolo picking also giving the songs more of a raw feeling when they are utilized.
All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them while the faster sections of the songs also add in a decent amount of blast beats. The tracks also adds in a lot of old school influences as well as remaining modern at the same time along with one song also being an instrumental, synths can also be heard in some parts of the ep and angry sounding shouts are also added in towards the end.
On this recording Burguli brings in a style of black metal that is very raw and lo-fi sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Catalan and covers darkness, hate, rage and misanthropy themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Burguli and if you are a fan of raw black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Baldes en la foscar" and "Ouroboros". 8 out of 10.
