Ch'ahom are a band f rom Germany that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording plays a bestial mixture of war, black and death metal with some technical, progressive and psychedelic touches and this is a review of their 2023 ep "Ts'ono'ot" which will be released on July 7th by Sentient Ruin Laboratories.
Psychedelic soundscapes start off the ep while the onyl track present on this recording is over 12 minutes in length Tribal beats can also be heard briefly before going into a heavier musical direction along with all of the instruments also sounding very powerful and d ark sounding melodies are also added into some of the riffing.
Vocals are a mixture of bestial growls and black metal screams while the faster sections of the song also add in a great amount of war metal elements, brutal blast beats and tremolo picking which also gives the music more of a raw fleeing. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the music also having its progressive and technical moments, when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very chaotic style.
On this track Ch'ahom takes their bestial mixture of war, black and death metal into more of a technical and progressive direction. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover rituals and Pre Hispanic themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Ch'ahom and if you are a fan of war and bestial black/death emtal with some progressive, psychedelic and technical touches, you should check out this ep. 8 out of 10.
