Solomonar are a solo project from Romania that plays an atmospheric form of black metal with elements of folk music and this is a review of his self released 2023 ep "IV".
Avant garde style keyboards start off the ep while programmed beats and elements of folk music can also be heard at times. Melodies can also be heard in some of the heavier riffing along with the music also having its atmospheric moments and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Half of the tracks are instrumentals while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style when they are utilized. When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling along with one of the tracks also being very long and epic in length.
When vocals are introduced into the music they are mostly high pitched black metal screams, throughout the recording you can also h ear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style, The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover nature themes.
In my opinion Solomonar are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal solo project with elements of folk music and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "XIII-Pinpont".
