Fated To Fall/Yantrana/Don't Go Into The Light/Elf Eggs/Pleroma Records/2024 Split EP Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  ep  between  Texas's  Fated  To  Fall  and  Washington's  Yantrana  called  "Don't  Go  Into  The  Light"  which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between  Elf  Eggs  and  Pleroma  Records  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Fated  To  Fall  a  duo  that  plays  a  gnostic  themed  style  of  raw  and  depressive  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  fast  and  raw  sound  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  depressive  black  metal  screams  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  all  of  the  riffing  also  being  done  on  power  chords.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  and  the  lyrics  cover  Gnosticism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Fated  To  Fall  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  depressive  black  metal  duo  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  deo.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Reptiles".

  Next  up  is  Yantrana  a  solo  project  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  Gnostic  themed  from  of  ambient  black  metal.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  fast  and  raw  sound  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Most  of  his  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  the  synths  also  bring  in  elements  of  ambient  and  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs.

  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  A  lot  of  the  music  also  adds  in  some  old  school  touches,  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Gnosticism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Yantrana  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  ambient  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Sheep  in  Wolves  Clothing". 

In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  raw,  depressive  and  occult  black  metal. 8  out  of  10.
