Thron are an international band with member from Germany and Switzerland that plays a progressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2025 album "Vurias" which was released by Listenable Records.
Synths start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. Clean playing is also utilized at times along the recording also having its progressive moments and blast beats are also added into the faster sections of the songs.
Vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody. When tremolo picking is added into the faster riffing they also give the album more of a raw feeling along with the songs also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Acoustic guitars and synths are also added into certain sections of the recording along with the spoken words also adding in a ritualistic atmosphere when they are utilized. One of the tracks is also very long and epic in length. A lot of the music also mixes in elements of 70's era progressive rock, Hammond organs and saxophones are also used briefly. and clear singing is also added towards the end The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Occultism and Mythology themes.
In my opinion Thron are a very great sounding progressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Serpent's Path" "A Paradox" and "The Hunter And The Pray". 8 out of 10.
