Telepathic Ceremony are a duo from the United States that plays a very raw and ambient form of black metal and this is a review of their self titled 2025 album which was released as a joint effort between Elf Eggs, 56bile and Murder on Ponce.
Dark soundscapes and ambient style synths start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. Clean playing can also be heard on a few tracks while the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams and when the music speeds up a lot of blast beats can be heard.
When tremolo picking is added into the fast riffing they also give the songs more of a raw feeling while the album also adds in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. At times the music also captures a very lo-fi atmosphere along with a couple of the tracks also being instrumentals, dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffs.
Telepathic Ceremony plays a musical style that takes a raw form of black metal and mixes it with ambient to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover telepathy, metaphysical and darkness themes.
In my opinion Telepathic Ceremony are a very great sounding raw ambient black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Total Elimination Of Receptors" and "Substantial Trephination". 8 out of 10.
