Tselech are a solo project from the United States that plats a mixture of raw black metal and noise and this is a review of his 2024 demo "Unknown Growth" which was released by Elf Eggs.
A very dark, heavy and lo-fi sound starts off the demo before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while elements of harsh noise are also mixed in with the heavier sections of the songs.
Throughout the demo you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while a lot of the music also captures an improvised atmosphere. Field recordings can also be heard briefly along with the music avoiding the use of any melody, solos or leads.
Tselech takes a very raw and lo-fi form of black metal and mixes it with noise to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover darkness and death themes.
In my opinion Tselech is a very great sounding mixture of raw black metal and noise and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dripping Eidolon" and "A Gate Ajar". 8 out of 10.
