Godskill are a band from Germany that plays a very fast and aggressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2025 ep "Unterm scharlachroten Mond" which was released by Gottesrache Records.
Dark soundscapes start off the ep along with some high pitched black metal screams a few seconds later which also takes the music into a heavier direction. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the tracks more of a raw feeling.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while death metal growls can also be heard at times. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them along with a couple of the tracks also being very long and epic in length.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style as well as one song also adding in a brief use of spoken word samples and the slower sections of the songs also add in elements of doom metal as well as the interlude also adding in some clean chants and synths before returning back to a heavier direction, whispered vocals are also added towards the end. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Satanism, Anti Religion and Political themes.
In my opinion Godskill are a very great sounding fast and aggressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Seraphim's Burning Hymn" and "Unterm scharlachroten Mond". 8 out of 10.
