Genuflexion are a band from Argentina that plays a very spiritual form of black metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Apoteosis Fallida" which was released by Handful Of Hate.
Distorted amp noises along with some grim black metal screams start off the album before going into a heavier direction. When tremolo picking and blast beats are utilized during the faster sections of the songs it gives the music more of a raw feeling along with the riffs also adding in a decent amount of melody.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them. melodic yet ritualistic chants can also be heard briefly along with the music also adding in a good amount of mid 90's to early 2000's influences.
When spoken word parts are utilized they enhance the occult atmosphere that is presented on the music. Keyboards are also added into certain sections of the recording and as the album progresses the music gets more diverse as well as one track also introducing clean vocals into the music. The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics are written in Spanish and cover dark spirituality themes.
In my opinion Genuflexion are a very great sounding spiritual black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Apoteosis Fallida" "Deidades del difunto" and "Adictos a la ilusion de ser". 8 out of 10.
