Black Goat are a solo project from Russia that plays a very satanic form of black metal and this is a review of his 2018 album "Magia posthuma: The Inmost Darkness - Second Phenomenon" which was released by iron, Blood & Death Corporation.
Rain and thunder sounds start off the album along with some ritualistic sounding synths a few seconds later as well as introducing grim black metal screams onto the recording. After the intro the music goes into a heavier direction while also introducing dark sounding melodies onto the recording.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while the faster sections of the songs also bring in a great amount of blast beats. A couple of the tracks are very long and epic in length while the music is very heavily influenced by both the first and second wave of black metal.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very chaotic and old school style while the songs also add in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Ritualistic whispers and spoken words can also be heard in certain sections of the recording along with some dark soundscapes also being utilized at times.
Demonic growls are also used quite a bit throughout the recording while one song also brings acoustic guitars into the music. When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. A couple of the songs are instrumental and as the album progresses the synths also make a brief return. The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover theistic satanism, darkness and blasphemy themes.
In my opinion Black Goat are a very great sounding satanic black metal solo project which captures the evil and blasphemy of both the first and second wave eras of the genre, and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Black Goat/Omen Perdition's" "Show me The Wrath" and "Ghoul Grave". 8/7 out of 10.
