Inferitvm are a band from Spain that plays an occult form of black metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "The Grimoires" which will be released on January 25th by Inverse Records.
Ritualistic style synths start off the album while spoken word samples can also be heard briefly before evolving into high pitched black metal screams along with some whispers also being used briefly before going into more of a heavier and melodic musical direction and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can also be heard.
When tremolo picking is utilized it gives the music more of a raw feeling while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them as well as the solos and leads being done in a very melodic style,.
Some of the tracks are very long an epic in length while synths are also mixed into the heavier sections of the music at times and as the album progresses a small amount of clean playing is also added onto the recording along with the music being very heavily rooted in the 90's but modern at the same times as well as spoken word parts also returning on some of the later tracks and female vocals can also be heard briefly towards the end.
Inferitvm plays a style of occult black metal that is very heavily rooted in the 90's and also captures the atmosphere of the synth orientated bands from that era, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover occultism and the song titles all take a name of a famous grimoire or western occult novel with the focus being more on the left hand pat side.
In my opinion Inferitvm are a very great sounding occult black metal band and if you are a fan of t his musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Codex Gigas" "Goetia Of Shadows" "De Occulta Philosophia" and "De Umbrarum Regni". 8/5 out of 10.
