Se Lusiferin Kannel are a band from Finland that plays an atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Valtakunta" which will be re-issued in February of 2019 by Signal Rex.
Atmospheric sounding synths start off the album before going into a very fast and raw black metal direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats while the solos and leads are done in a very melodic style along with all of the tracks being very long and epic in length.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams along with the music also mixing the more atmospheric side in with the heavier sections of the music as well as some clean vocals also being utilized at times and the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody and as the album progresses a brief use of growls can also be heard and the music also adds in a decent amount of sundscapes.
Se Lusiferin Kannel plays a style of black metal that is very modern, epic and atmospheric sounding, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Finnish and cover misanthropy, dystopian, human extinction, eschatology, and philosophical themes.
In my opinion Se Lusiferin Kannel are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this re-issue. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Eded vedet eivat saa rauhaa" and "Auringon valtakunta". 8 out of 10.
