Bestial Rites are a band from Peru that plays a very old school and bestial mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2025 demo "El Abismo" which was released by WolfKult Religion.
A very heavy and old school sound starts off the demo along with some fast playing. blast beats and chaotic guitar leads and leads a few seconds later. Vocals are a mixture of bestial death metal growls and black metal screams while the music is very heavily rooted in the early 90's era.
A touch of war metal can also be heard in the faster sections of the songs while dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them along with the tracks also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
A lot of the recording sounds like it could of easily been recorded and released more then 30 years ago and they also bring in a cover of Slayer's "Black Magic", synths are also introduced on the closing track, tremolo picking is also added into some of the faster riffing. The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics are written in Spanish and cover occultism, darkness and violence themes.
In my opinion Bestial Rites are a very great sounding old school and bestial mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Holocausto" and "Rebelion". 8 out of 10.
