France's solo project Glorior Belli has returned with a new recording which shows the music going for more of a raw and traditional style of black metal and this is a review of his self titled 2025 album which will be released on march 28th by Dark Empire Records.
Apocalyptic soundscapes and spoken word samples start off the album before going into a heavier direction. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them while the vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched sounding black metal screams and the riffs also add in a lot of melody.
When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
Clear vocals can also be heard on a couple of tracks along with the music also taking the aggression of the old school era and mixing it with a more modern take on the genre one track also adds in a brief use of World War 2 era music samples. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover war and oppression themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Glorior Belli and if you are a fan of raw and traditional black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Yore's Grandeur" "Weltshmerz Wield Power" and "When Battle Is Fought And Victory Is Won". 8 out of 10.
