Verheerer are a band from Germany that plays a very aggressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2025 album "Urgewait" which will be released in April by Vendetta Records.
A very apocalyptic sounding intro starts off the album before going into a heavier direction while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling.
Vocals are done in more of an angry black metal style while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some of the tracks also being very long and epic in length.
Spoken words can also be heard on a couple of tracks along with a couple of songs also adding in a small amount of keyboards. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing as well as some clean playing also being added into certain sections of the album. At times the music also adds elements of death metal and growls are also utilized briefly, clear singing is also added on the closing track. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in a mixture of German and English and cover the First World War.
In my opinion Verheerer are a very great sounding modern and aggressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Urgewait" "Totenvolk" and "Kriegstreiber". 8 out of 10.
