Goat Serpent Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album?

1- R: Hailz Demon, thanks for the interview. The current editions of Mors Deorum Somnium were started at the beginning of the year, you know, internal art, photo editing, etc., so we have been fully involved with this release and now we see how the album is spreading to various latitudes.

2.In February you had released a new album, musically how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

2- R: This album is more intense, faster, musically superior, lyrically speaking deeper, and the concept is totally the crowning of the precepts of the Luciferian path than what we did in the past.

3.A lot of your lyrics cover Luciferian and Occultism themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the dark arts?

3- R: For years we have been involved in the study of the dark arts and we have captured all of that in Goat Serpent, over time we have matured our thinking and radicalized our vision and perception of existence in this rotten world scourged by the powers of the triumvirate that governs it in many aspects by the wills of the masses, we instead walk our own path in the darkness nourishing our being with the light of the power and knowledge of Lux Ferre!!

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Goat Serpent"?

4- R: It is the conjugation of our passion for the Goat, represented in music by Bathory and, obviously, by the ancient symbolism of the Goat represented by the great Baphomet. As for the Serpent, for us, it is the classic representation of John Milton's Lucifer, the great tempter, cunning, powerful leader of those fallen in rebellion.

5.Originally the band was from Venezuela but now the members reside in Columbia and Argentina, can you tell us a little bit more about the move?

5-R: Anhell Beleth Crocell emigrated to Colombia several years ago, just as Frater Seth did to Argentina. The decision of both to emigrate was due to all the political, social, cultural and economic problems that Venezuela is immersed in. All of this prevented us from developing the plans we had for Goat Serpent.

6.Currently the band works as a duo but had a full line up in the past, are you open to expanding the line up again in the future?

6-R: Yes, we are two members who carry this horde like the devil's horns, we already had other members but they were session musicians, in Venezuela it was quite difficult to find people who shared our tastes, passions and wills turned towards the path of the left hand, currently we have a drummer who recorded our last full length who is Colombian and with him we are projecting for future rituals in Colombia and other latitudes, we also have a bassist who over the years has been with the band who is also in Colombia, now we are looking for a session guitarist as I had told you to accompany us in future rituals

7.With the live line up what where some of the best shows that the band played and also how would you describe your stage performance?

7- R: I always remember a performance in Valencia, Venezuela, in 2015. The bar was across from a cemetery. That night, it was hot, and the aura of the place was permeated with the stench of death, nocturnal heat, and many cursed entities unleashing chaos during our ritual. On stage, we are what we should be: the cursed monks, emissaries of chaos and Luciferian power!!

8.In the past you where also a part of a couple of splits, can you tell us a little bit more about the bands you shared these recordings with?

8-R: Oh of course, our first split on CD was with Igni Dare one of the oldest bands in Venezuela and allies of Morghduet, two great Venezuelan hordes faithful to Black Metal, Satanism and the black arts, this split is very special since we know that it reached many places and many entities received the satanic message, then we were in the split Tape ¨*Ominous Triumviratum for the Holocaust* where we shared with Odium Enthronement a beastly band from El Salvador and our brothers for many years the warriors Torment of Abyss from Colombia, and the most recent split was with Astral Dark an underground band of Colombian Black Metal

9.On the new album, you also did a 'Grand Belial's key' cover, what was the decision behind doing your own version of one of their songs?

9-R: Shemhamforash is one of those anthems we love, a Black Metal invocation embodied!

And so it is Done!

10.The new album was released through a good amount of labels, can you tell us a little bit more about the labels you worked with on the physical versions of the new release?

10-R: We had previously worked with all the labels involved (American Line Prods, Nebula Forest Productions and Vociferos Mladitos Prods), except for WP & RO Productions. This was our first time with this label, but we were familiar with their releases with Latin American underground Black Metal bands. We have a very good relationship with all the labels, so it was easy to choose them for this album

11.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?

11-R: So far our album has been very well received. We've read good reviews on the labels' websites, on our official sites as well as on the YouTube channels that have uploaded the opus.

12.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?

12-R: Anhell Beleth C. has his own personal project that started in the 90's called Malevolencia and he is a session guitarist for Maldicion, Frater Seth is the vocalist for Nekro Cvlt Desecration his most active band, Ritual Circle which is a new project and Sacrificial Temple which is a band with members from the USA, Chile and Ecuador, Unholy Blast has his personal band called Desolator and plays with Torment of Abyss and bassist Asator is only with us

13.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

13-R: We will follow this sound, which is an apology to the black metal of the 90s

14.What are some of the bands or musical styles the band members are currently listening to nowadays?

14- R: We always listen to classic albums from the 80s and 90s, although we also listen to newer bands like Gauntlet Ring, for example, which are amazing, or the latest from Spectral Wound, or the latest from Satanic Warmaster... or the old demos from Blasphemous (Sweden)...

15.Before we wrap up this itnerview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

15-R: Thank you very much for the interview, we invite you to listen to our new album available for streaming on YouTube and Bandcamp and for purchase with the labels mentioned above, keep the flame of black metal burning. Hailz Lux Ferre
