Denver, Colorado's solo project Oaks Of Bethel have returned with a new recording which shoes the music going into more of a raw and atmospheric ambient/drone black metal direction and this is a review of his 2018 ep "Fluttering: A Black Tornado Filled With Fire" which was released by EEE Recordings.
Distorted sounding drones start off the ep before going into more of a heavier and melodic musical direction which also introduces deep vocals onto the recording that are kind of mixed down low in the mix along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them.
The track is 29 minutes in length and divided into 4 different parts along with the solos and leads being done in a very melodic and atmospheric fashion and when the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the song more of a raw feeling and after awhile the track starts bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
On this recording Oaks Of Bethel creates another epic atmospheric black metal track with repetitive riffing , ambient and drone elements, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover astronomy and the unknown themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding track from Oaths Of Bethel and if you are a fan of ambient black metal, you should check out this ep. 8 out of 10.
