Sorgelig are a band from Greece that plays a Nordic inspired form of misanthropic black metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Apostate" which was released by Perkun Records.
Rain and thunder sounds start off the album along with some keyboards as well as some evil voices briefly and after the intro the music goes into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams.
Most of the music is very heavily rooted in the 90's second wave era and also sounds like it could of easily been recorded and released during that time frame while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and when guitar leads are utilized they also add more of a dark and raw sound to them and spoken word samples can also be heard briefly, all of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them.
Sorgelig plays a style of black metal that is very raw and misanthropic as well as having a great amount of Scandinavian influences, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover darkness and misanthropy themes.
In my opinion Sorgelig are a very great sounding misanthropic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Collapse" and "The Last Day, The Last Breath". 8 out of 10.
