Pseudogod are a band from Russia that plays a very raw, satanic and bestial mixture of war, black and death metal and this is a review of their 2018 compilation album "Sepulchral Chants" which will be released in May by Nuclear War Now! Productions.
A very distorted, atmospheric and ritualistic sounding drone starts off the compilation along with some choir vocals before going into a very fast, raw and brutal war metal direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats along with some bestial death metal growls.
Throughout the compilation you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while some songs also bring in a small amount of grim black metal screams along with some of the tracks being very long and epic in length as well as the riffs also bringing in a small amount of dark sounding melodies.
When guitar solos and leads are finally utilized they are done in a very raw yet chaotic fashion while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and they also bring in cover's of Beherit's "The Gate of Nanna" and Anateus's "Blood War III" and the music always remains very heavy, raw and brutal sounding.
Pseudogod plays a musical style that takes the heaviest, rawest and most brutal elements of war, black and death metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Necromancy, Demonology and Darkness themes.
In my opinion Pseudogod are a very great sounding satanic and raw mixture of war, black, and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Bleeding With Pus Of Black Plague" "The Firstborn Of Abhorrence" "Azazel" and "Necromancy Of The Iron Darkness". 8/5 out of 10.
