Altar Of Perversion/Intra Naos/The Ajna Offensive/Norma Evangelium Diaboli/2018 Double CD Review

  Altar  Of  Perversion  are  a  band  from  Italy  that  plays  a  very occult  and  satanic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  double  album  "Intra  Naos"  which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between  The  Ajna  Offensive  and  Norma  Evangelium  Diaboli.

  A  very  dark  yet  ritualistic  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  soundscapes  along  with  the  guitars  and  drums  started  out  semi  quiet  before  becoming  extremely  heavy  while  the  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  as  well  as  the  vocals  being  mostly  grim  black  metal  screams  and  all  of  the  tracks  also  sounding  very  different  from  each  other.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  all  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  the  songs  also  bringing  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  bringing  in  a  great  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  and  at  times  the  music  gets  very  avant  garde,  atmospheric  and  experimental  sounding.

  Some  of  the  slower  riffing  adds  in  a  touch  of  doom  metal  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  dark  and  melodic  fashion  along  with  some  acoustic  guitars  also  being  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording  which  also  bring  in a  mixture  of  finger  picking  and  full  chords  and  the  riffs  also  bring  in a   great  amount  of  dissonant  structures  as  well  as  the  spoken  word  parts  when  they  are  utilized  give  the  music  more  of  a  ritualistic  feeling  and  as  the  album  progresses  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  mixing  in  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs.

  Altar  Of  Perversion  plays  a  style  of  satanic  and  occult  black  metal  that  is  very  modern, ritualistic,  progressive  and  dissonant  sounding  while  also  bringing  in  a  very  raw,  melodic  and  atmospheric  side  at  times,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Pan  European  Satanism  as  practiced  by  The  Order  Of  The  Nine  Angles.

  In  my  opinion  Altar  Of  Perversion  are  a  very  great  sounding  satanic  and  occult  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "She  Weaves  Abyssal  Riddles  And  Eorthean  Gates"  and  "Cosmic  Thule,  Inneer  Temple".  8/9  out  of  10.
