Apognosis are a solo project from Greece that plays a dark form of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2018 ep "Cult Of Human Sacrifices".
Ritualistic chanting starts off the ep before going into a heavier musical direction which also uses a great amount of dark sounding melodies while the vocals are mostly grim black metal screams along with the guitar leads also being done in a very melodic fashion and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can also be heard.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the tremolo picking also giving the songs a more raw feeling and both of the tracks are very long and epic in length and the second track starts out with a very ritualistic and atmospheric sound before returning back to a heavier direction.
Apognosis plays a style of black metal that is very dark and traditional sounding while also demonstrating a great amount of talent as a musician, the production sounds very powerful for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover dark and philosophical themes.
In my opinion Apognosis are a very great dark sounding black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Necrogenesis". 8 out of 10.
