Apochryphal Revelation are a band from Lexington, Kentucky that plays an old school and satanic form of occult black/death metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Primevel Devilish Wisdon" which will be released in November by Nuclear War Now! Productions.
Horror movie style keyboards start off the album and also give the music more of a ritualistic and occult atmosphere as well as mixing in with the heavier sections of the music at times. Dark sounding melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing while the music is also very heavily rooted in the early 90's era.
Vocals are done in mostly an old school black/death metal style while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they also remain true to an old school style along with some of the faster sections of the songs also showing an influence of the early war metal style as well as some of the songs also adding in brief interludes, demonic and guttural voices can also be heard at times and as the album progresses a brief use of clean playing is also added onto the recording. The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover Witchcraft, Satanism and Mythology themes.
In my opinion Apochryphal Revelation are a very great sounding old school satanic and occult black/death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Profane" "Constantine" "Blasphemous" and "Graveyard". 8/5 out of 10.
