Porta Daimon are a band from France that plays a very raw and anarchronistic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Faustologie" which was released by The Ritual Productions.
Dark soundscapes start off the album before adding some drum beats onto the recording while whispered vocals can also be heard briefly before going into a heavier musical direction. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams along with all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them.
Blast beats can also be heard when the music speeds up along with the guitar leads also being done in a very melodic style. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with the music also capturing a ritualistic atmosphere at times and most of the music sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction, keyboards can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and as the album progresses a brief use of spoken word parts can also be heard, clean playing can also be heard briefly on the closing track.
Porta Daimon plays a style of black metal that is very raw and traditional sounding as well as being very different at the same time. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in French and cover dark themes.
In my opinion Porta Daimon are a very great sounding raw and anarchronistic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS "Sous Les Cadavres du Sigil Putrefie". 8 out of 10.
