Viharukous are a duo from Finland that plays a very raw, satanic and misanthropic form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2020 demo "Sota elamaa vastaan".
A very dark and ritualistic sounding intro starts off the demo before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams and a couple of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the riffs also add in a small amount of melody at times. Synths can also be heard briefly along with one track also adding in some horror movie samples and spoken word parts as well as the music also adding in a good balance between old school and modern influences, the songs also have their ritualistic moments and the demo closes with a cover of The Ramones "Havana Affair" which also adds a touch of punk rock onto the recording.
Viharukous plays a style of black metal that is very raw misanthropic sounding as well as being different from most bands of the genre, The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Finnish and cover Satanism and Misanthropy themes.
In my opinion Viharukous are a very great sounding raw, misanthropic and satanic black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Maaimantuhon mustat siivet" and "Viimeinen tayttymys". 8 out of 10.
